Michael Olise was named player of the Bundesliga season after FC Bayern’s 5-1 win over 1 FC Köln, but the Frenchman also provided a curious moment during the ceremony
FC Bayern’s championship celebrations ended with a special award for Michael Olise, who was officially named „Player of the Season“ by the DFL following the 5-1 win over 1 FC Cologne
The award was presented by the two DFL managing directors Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel directly in the Allianz Arena. Olise played a major part in Munich’s 35th league title with an outstanding Bundesliga season
The attacking star scored 15 goals and set up a further 19 goals, a combination last achieved by Jadon Sancho six years ago at Borussia Dortmund
Olise had already been named „Rookie of the Season“ last season, and now the next major individual title followed
However, things got strange immediately after the award ceremony, because as soon as Olise had accepted the award – wearing extremely stylish sunglasses, by the way – the 24-year-old disappeared straight to the dressing room. The Frenchman even forgot the casket for his award, which had to be handed to him down the stairs into the dressing room corridor afterwards
Olise never really seems to feel at ease when he receives trophies, and he only held up the championship trophy very briefly afterwards – just like last year
Olise developed into a Bayern superstar
However, the player of the season award came as no surprise to him. Olise was one of the most consistent and spectacular players in the Bundesliga throughout the season
The award is presented by the DFL on the basis of a combined vote, with fans voting digitally via the Bundesliga platforms and accounting for 40 percent of the total. There is also a club vote with 30 percent and an expert vote with a further 30 percent
Last year, a Bayern player also won the title: Harry Kane was honored at the time

For FC Bayern, the transfer of Olise is increasingly becoming a direct hit. The Munich club signed the Frenchman from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 for around €53 million
The offensive player is now valued at a market value of €140 million by the portal transfermarkt.de
Internally, Bayern managers have categorically ruled out a sale anyway. Olise still has a long-term contract in Munich until 2029 and is now regarded as one of the most important building blocks for the record champions‘ future.
