Numerous contractual issues have been clarified at FC Bayern in recent months. The club have been able to agree an extension with several key players. The situation is different for Konrad Laimer. The talks about a new contract are proving complicated – now the Austrian has spoken out himself
„There aren’t many talks at the moment. I’m still relaxed,“ Laimer told Sport BILD, adding: „You shouldn’t get your head too full.“
His current contract runs until 2027, but there have been no signs of a quick agreement recently. On the contrary: according to reports, negotiations have been halted for the time being
As BILD head of soccer Christian Falk reported, Laimer is said to have been „disappointed“ by Bayern’s first offer. He is said to have been offered around eight to nine million euros per season. The player’s side, on the other hand, had expected a package of between twelve and 15 million euros. As a result, Laimer’s advisors are said to have „put the talks on ice“ for the time being
Matthäus shows understanding for Laimer
Record international Lothar Matthäus recently expressed understanding for Laimer’s position, saying that the 28-year-old knows exactly what other players in the squad earn. In his Sky column, Matthäus wrote that it is becoming increasingly difficult to moderate salary structures internally in modern soccer

Five or six years ago, it started that „sums of money were being disclosed“: „Since then, everyone knows what everyone else earns. Players come and say: ‚Why is he getting more than me?‘ That hasn’t made it any easier for FC Bayern and that’s the difficulty Max Eberl is having now.“
Laimer moved to Munich from RB Leipzig on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. Since then, he has played 118 competitive matches for the record champions. He is also a regular in the current season, making 29 appearances so far with two goals and eight assists.
