FC Bayern’s jersey is regularly the focus of attention – sometimes beloved, sometimes hotly debated. For the upcoming 2026/27 season, the Munich club is likely to opt for calm and fulfil the wishes of many fans for a classic red and white home kit. However, the next stylistic break could follow just one year later
While the 2026/27 home kit is clearly intended to return to the traditional look of the record champions, the first indications of a much more daring design for the 2027/28 season are now circulating. According to Footy Headlines, the club is planning a previously unusual accent color for the home kit together with equipment supplier Adidas. Yellow, orange, green or even purple are being discussed. This would be the first time that such a color has been used for a Bayern home kit
There is obviously a clear strategy behind the possible design. Adidas has been pursuing the principle of designing „two classic and one risky“ jersey within a jersey cycle for years. Following the deliberately traditional approach for 2026/27, the 2027/28 home jersey could take on precisely this experimental role – with the corresponding potential for discussion
Tradition as a benchmark, experiments as part of the business

Fans and managers have already made it clear on several occasions how sensitive the subject of the jersey is at FC Bayern. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen emphasized the special significance of the club’s colors and the partnership with Adidas at SPOBIS: „We’ve been together for 60 years and I think it’s completely undisputed that we’re an important brand for Adidas, but vice versa, Adidas is also an important brand for us.“ For him, the jersey is emotionally charged: „I can’t really imagine the jersey without the three stripes.“
At the same time, the team at Säbener Straße knows that a jersey can’t just be repeated every year. „From a designer’s perspective, something new has to come along every year, of course,“ explained Dreesen, describing the constant balancing act: „How can we combine tradition and what some of the fans see as an identification factor – namely the color and the composition of the colors – with small new impulses?“
The economic aspect also plays a role here. „We also want to sell jerseys,“ the Bayern boss made clear. Adidas CEO Björn Gulden goes even further and even sees an advantage in polarizing designs. „It’s funny at first: the more criticism you get for a jersey, especially the second or third, the more you sell,“ said Gulden, referring to previous collections
It is still completely open as to which accent color Adidas and FC Bayern will ultimately choose, but one thing is certain: after the deliberately classic 2026/27 home jersey, there are many indications that the record champions will become bolder again shortly afterwards – and could thus spark another debate.
