The transfer market is already casting its shadow in January 2026. FC Bayern is increasingly focusing on a young attacking player. But a top English club of all clubs could now intervene decisively for the Munich team.
The focus is on Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. According to the BILD podcast„Bayern Insider“, Liverpool FC are intensively involved with the Leipzig attacking player. Transfer insider Christian Falk confirmed this assessment and put the situation into perspective from Bayern’s point of view: „That’s right, and I say: Diomande is actually very, very high on FC Bayern’s list.“
Leipzig, however, have set a clear asking price. Falk explained that RB would „like to see over €100 million for the player“. While this sum hardly seems realistic for Munich, Liverpool are said to be prepared to at least test this range with an initial offer. „Liverpool are actually prepared to pay that – at least to make an appropriate offer first,“ said Falk.
The competition is apparently not limited to the Reds. Falk pointed out that Manchester City are also said to have shown interest. In this context, he said with regard to the €100 million demanded: „That’s why I don’t think the scenario is unrealistic at all.“ As a comparison, he drew on recent transfer sums from England and made it clear how high transfer fees for attacking players are now taken for granted there.
Bayern looking for competition for Luis Díaz

This poses a clear problem for FC Bayern. Moderator Max Möbus asked whether a three-digit million sum was even an option for the Munich club. Falk clearly denied this and explained: „At this level, Bayern are out.“ The background to this is that Diomande would be planned as a challenger for Luis Díaz, for whom Bayern have already invested around 70 million euros.
It was previously reported that Diomande is considered a candidate for the left wing at Säbener Straße. Even without an acute need for action, those responsible are closely monitoring his development. However, Munich are said to be internally only prepared to remain significantly below Leipzig’s demand, which makes the starting position in the poker even more difficult.
Another detail could be the deciding factor. Falk made it clear in the podcast: „And unfortunately you also have to say: Diomande is a Liverpool fan.“ According to Falk, Bayern still want to make an attempt, but if a concrete offer is received from England, the situation could become increasingly complicated for the record champions.
