FC Bayern rolled over VfL Wolfsburg 8:1 – and Tom Bischof gave a remarkably frank assessment of this resounding victory after the final whistle. The young midfielder spoke about the difficult start, the clear plan for the second half and why he is currently finding it so easy to perform in the Bayern set-up
Bischof made no secret of the fact that the game was anything but a walk in the park at first. „Outstanding. The first half was more difficult, of course,“ he said in an interview with DAZN, referring to the course of the game. That made the plan for the second 45 minutes all the clearer. „We wanted to kill them off in the second half and add one or two goals in the first ten minutes to make the game easier for us.“
It was precisely this approach that paid off. FC Bayern came out of the locker room with maximum intensity, immediately increased the pressure and pulled the plug on Wolfsburg. „And I think we managed that well,“ said a satisfied Bischof. The early flurry of goals not only ensured a clear situation, but also a palpable sense of relief within the team. „Of course, we’re all delighted that we’ve now got such a win in the bag.“

When asked what ultimately tipped the scales, Bischof summed it up in a simple but telling formula. „It’s not at all easy to win against Wolfsburg, because it’s generally not easy to achieve such a big win,“ he clarified. However, the decisive factor was the attitude. „I just think that we were so eager to win, that we were more eager to turn the game in our direction.“
This thirst for success currently runs through the entire team – and also makes it easier for young players like Bischof to integrate. „It’s very easy in the team,“ he explained with visible self-confidence. „They can kick and then it’s very easy to find your way in.“ He didn’t hide the fact that he himself plays his part: „I’ve got a bit of a chip on my shoulder too, so that fits in.“
Bischof also feels flexible and comfortable in terms of position. „I like both,“ he said about his roles on the pitch, but left no doubt about his preference: „But I think I like the six a bit more.“
