Nicolas Jackson has remained unbeaten with Senegal at the Africa Cup, but after a strong start with a brace, the Bayern striker had to settle for a draw in the second group game
The favorites were held to a 1-1 draw against DR Congo despite clearly dominating the field
After an uneventful first half, Senegal initially fell behind unexpectedly. Cedric Bakambu put the DR Congo ahead in the 61st minute, briefly causing long faces among the tournament favourites. However, the answer followed promptly: ex-Bayern striker Sadio Mané equalized just a few minutes later
Jackson was replaced by Habib Diallo in the 81st minute

Senegal pressed for the winning goal in the closing stages, but missed several good opportunities. In the end, the score remained 1-1, which still leaves both teams in a comfortable position. With four points each after two matchdays, both Senegal and DR Congo are on the verge of reaching the round of 16
Jackson and his team will play their final group match against Benin next Tuesday, 30 December. Their next opponents are currently on three points in Group D and therefore also remain in the running. Steve Mounié, currently on loan to Alanyaspor from FC Augsburg, set up the decisive goal in the recent 1-0 win over Botswana
For Jackson, the final group game offers the next opportunity to make his mark on a personal level – while Munich will be keeping a close eye on how the Bayern striker performs on the international stage.
