For Uli Hoeneß, last Saturday ended not only with FC Bayern’s commanding 5:0 victory in Stuttgart, but also with a special appearance away from the pitch
The 73-year-old was a guest at the BILD gala „Ein Herz für Kinder“ (A Heart for Children), where he once again supported a good cause. There, the honorary president spoke about his wishes for the new year – and revealed which titles he would like to see in 2026
The record champions are currently in outstanding form. The 5:0 win against VfB was a clear response to all those who wanted to conjure up a small crisis after the defeat against Arsenal. For Hoeneß, it is clear what the club is heading for: „Our team naturally wants to a) become German champions and b) progress internationally once again.“
His expectations for the coming season are clear – and the long-time Bayern boss‘ hunger for titles is unbroken. However, the DFB Cup is particularly important to Hoeneß. FC Bayern has not reached the final since 2020, with the club always failing surprisingly early. 2026 should change that: „Because you saw how happy they were at the game against Union Berlin, like little children, because we hadn’t been to Berlin for ages.“

The honorary president is also looking beyond the club. One of the highlights of the coming year for him is „the national team playing in the World Cup, and I hope they get as far as possible.“ Hoeneß also spoke about the year 2025, which is coming to an end soon, and which has been positive for him all round: he is „totally satisfied with how things have gone, both privately and at FC Bayern.“
After 55 years at FC Bayern, the following applies more than ever: if his club is doing well, then Hoeneß is also doing well. And looking ahead to the coming months, the Bayern patron sees several opportunities for success – both nationally and internationally.
