FC Bayern face their next away assignment – this time in the Bundesliga at VfB Stuttgart. The probable line-up.
On Saturday (3:30pm), the record champions will host the sixth-placed team from Swabia. After the cup clash in Berlin, coach Vincent Kompany could rotate again.
As usual, Manuel Neuer will be in goal, with a back four consisting of Konrad Laimer on the right, Josip Stanisic on the left and Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah in the center. The latter also formed the center of defence during the week in Berlin. Minjae Kim remains the alternative from the bench for the time being.
Joshua Kimmich is set to play in midfield, with Leon Goretzka expected to replace the injured Aleksandar Pavlovic. The 21-year-old had to be substituted in the cup win against Union and will be rested as a precaution.
Offense with Diaz – Gnabry likely to move into the starting eleven
In attack, Serge Gnabry is likely to return after being benched in the cup. Lennart Karl, who has started four times in a row recently, will probably be given a break. Michael Olise will remain on the right flank, while Luis Diaz will take over the left flank as usual despite a tight playing schedule. He will not be rested, partly because he is suspended for the Champions League on Tuesday.
Harry Kane is set to start in the center of attack. The 32-year-old remains the focal point of Munich’s attack. Nicholas Jackson is once again expected to play as a wild card.
Bayern’s likely starting XI at a glance: Neuer – Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Stanisic – Kimmich, Goretzka – Olise, Gnabry, Diaz – Kane
Meanwhile, VfB Stuttgart will be without several regular starters, including Demirovic, Zagadou and Jaquez. Nevertheless, the Swabians‘ home streak is impressive: five Bundesliga home wins in a row speaks for itself.
The expected Stuttgart starting XI at a glance: Nübel – Jeltsch, Chabot, Hendriks – Assignon, Chema, Stiller, Mittelstädt – El Khannouss, Leweling – Undav
