FC Bayern’s search for a coach is turning into a public casting show with no winner. The Munich club is receiving one rejection after another. While the candidates are slowly but surely running out, Max Eberl remains confident and has now made a bold announcement.
Looking back over the last few weeks, the impression is growing that nobody really wants the coaching job at FC Bayern. Max Eberl has sounded out almost all the top options, held numerous talks and is still empty-handed, even though the club wanted to present a successor to Thomas Tuchel back in April.
As Sky reports, the pressure on the sporting director in Munich is increasing noticeably. Eberl must deliver results quickly. Without the appointment of a new head coach, Bayern cannot really begin their planned squad reorganisation.
The 50-year-old himself makes no secret of the fact that he is unhappy with the current situation: „The person who is most unhappy with the way things are developing is myself. I have to look at myself. I’ve only been here for ten weeks, but it feels like ten years,“ he said self-critically at yesterday’s season finale in Hoffenheim.
„We will find a very good solution“
Roberto De Zerbi is another candidate who has withdrawn from the race. The 44-year-old was Eberl’s favourite solution. However, he ruled out an Italian coach for the new season, ending the speculation and rumours surrounding De Zerbi.
Even if there is currently no concrete top favourite for the coaching job at the record champions, Eberl is not willing to bury his head in the sand: „A friend of mine always says that the best comes at the end. We will find a very good solution,“ emphasised the sporting director.
