The possibility of Ronald Araujo moving to FC Bayern has been rumoured for several months. Now FC Barcelona are said to have increased the pressure in the contract talks with the centre-back. A decision therefore seems to be getting closer and closer.
Although the negotiations between FC Barcelona and Ronald Araujo have apparently always been characterised by mutual respect, this could now change. As Mundo Deportivo reports, the 25-year-old Uruguayan and his team have not yet responded to the Catalans‘ potentially final contract offer.
The offer is said to have been presented to the player and his advisors Edmundo Kabchi and Edoardo Crnjarel back in March. Barça now want clarity on the matter, especially as the offer is said to be close to the financial limits of the financially struggling Catalans. Araujo and his team are therefore expected to make a decision as soon as possible.
Should the centre-back decide against extending his contract, which runs until 2026, he would be a candidate for sale in the summer, according to Spanish media reports. As Barcelona urgently need to generate income, selling Araujo, one of the most valuable players in the squad, would be an easy way to fill the club’s coffers for new summer signings.
Is there another Bayern bid for Ronald Araujo?
Even though FC Bayern’s first attempt to acquire Araujo failed in the winter, despite a reported bid of €80 million, the Spanish portal fichajes.net reports that Munich are planning another attempt in the upcoming summer transfer window. The German record champions can presumably offer Araujo a much more attractive salary than he is currently receiving in Barcelona.

The problem: In addition to FCB, Manchester United are also rumoured to be interested in FC Barcelona’s third captain. The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to outbid the sum Bayern offered in the winter. As a result, the Catalans could receive an initial offer before the official start of the transfer period on 1 July. However, this would have to be in the region of 100 million euros.
