As FC Bayern Munich closes out a disappointing season, Thomas Tuchel’s last home game at the Allianz Arena is coming into focus. However, the Bayern bosses have decided to keep the Munich head coach’s farewell rather simple.

After a season full of setbacks and disappointments, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen announced back in February regarding the collaboration with coach Thomas Tuchel: „We have come to the conclusion that we will end our collaboration by mutual agreement.“

Munich are currently continuing their search for a new coach from the summer, while Tuchel is about to play his last game as Bayern coach.

Sunday’s match against Wolfsburg will be Tuchel’s last time in charge of the team in front of a home crowd. The preparations for this match are characterised by discretion: no big celebrations are planned. Instead, a few words will be spoken shortly before the game and a small gift will be presented.

Bayern fans celebrate Tuchel in Madrid

Despite a poor season, the Munich team was able to at least partially appease the fans with two strong matches in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. In particular, Tuchel’s tearful performance after the unfortunate 2:1 defeat in Madrid is unlikely to have left the fans unscathed. The travelling fans celebrated Tuchel with chants, which Michael Ballack emphasised in a DAZN interview. „The Bayern fans are singing your name,“ he said to Tuchel after the game.

It remains to be seen whether Tuchel will receive similar recognition from the 75,000 spectators in the Allianz Arena. But regardless of the form of his farewell, Thomas Tuchel will not only leave behind bad memories in Munich.
