FC Bayern has clarified an important personnel matter in the women’s team. Sydney Lohmann will stay with the club for another two years. It didn’t look like that for a while.
More good news for the FCB women after the commanding 5-0 win over RB Leipzig: Sydney Lohmann has extended her contract with the Munich club until 2026.
The 23-year-old had recently been the subject of transfer rumours, as she was often only second choice in recent matches under coach Alexander Straus. She also only came on as a substitute against Leipzig.
Lohmann: „FC Bayern is home for me“
However, FC Bayern put a stop to these rumours and tied the international down for another two years.
„FC Bayern is home for me,“ said Lohmann, explaining her decision in favour of the Reds. She comes from the Bayern youth programme and matured into one of Germany’s greatest talents at FCB.
She scored 29 goals in 137 competitive matches for the first team. The midfielder won the German championship twice with the Munich team.
She played 28 international matches for the DFB team and was runner-up at the European Championships in 2022.
