Xabi Alonso is FC Bayern’s favourite coach for the coming season. But Liverpool FC is also interested. It was recently reported that Bayern are ahead in the race for the Spaniard. Now, for the first time, there is also a corresponding report from England.
There are increasing signs that FC Bayern has the better cards than Liverpool FC in the race for coach Xabi Alonso. Sky in Germany recently reported that Alonso would be more inclined to move to Munich if he were to leave Bayer Leverkusen.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio from Italy also reported: „I thought Liverpool were ahead of Bayern two or three weeks ago, but now Bayern are going full throttle because they believe he is the perfect coach for the future. At the moment Bayern are ahead of Liverpool!“
And in England, too, there is now the first report that Bayern are currently ahead of Liverpool FC in their endeavours to recruit Alonso, where they are looking for a successor to club legend Jürgen Klopp.
According to the English Telegraph, Bayern are increasingly confident that they have an advantage in signing Alonso should he decide to leave Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. Preliminary talks with Alonso’s representatives have already taken place.
Liverpool also have Nagelsmann on their radar
According to the Telegraph, Liverpool are by no means out of the running. However, the fact that the Reds are also looking for a new sporting director makes the search for a new coach more difficult. The club is said to have already identified two alternatives to Alonso in current national coach Julian Nagelsmann and Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon.
In contrast to Liverpool, FC Bayern has already reorganised its management team with the appointment of Max Eberl as the new sporting director.
Another advantage could be: Eberl already wanted to make Alonso the head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2021 as the successor to Marco Rose.
According to the report, however, it is not out of the question that Alonso will remain at Leverkusen for another season. The Spaniard is therefore currently focussing all his attention on the final spurt of the season. Bayer are still playing for the title in the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup and the Europa League.
