FC Bayern has been anything but in top form in recent months. Even the change of coach has not necessarily had the desired effect. Those responsible in Munich are increasingly despairing of their own stars. Club boss Oliver Kahn has now taken them to task.
After being knocked out of the DFB Cup, Bayern are also threatened with an early knockout in the Champions League tonight. After the 3-0 first leg defeat against Manchester City, Thomas Tuchel and his team need a real football miracle. The 49-year-old already made it clear at the pre-match briefing that this cannot be „conjured up“. It is up to the players to deliver on the pitch.
Kahn complains of too little will and readiness
Club boss Oliver Kahn is desperately looking for explanations for the numerous mixed performances after the World Cup in Qatar: „We have more than 20 national players in our squad, it is certainly not due to the sporting quality,“ he emphasised in an interview with the newspaper „Sport BILD“.
According to the 53-year-old, it is above all a matter of attitude: „Recently, there was too little will, too little willingness. Inconsistency is our consistency, that can’t be the claim of this team.“ At the same time, Kahn made it very clear to the FCB stars ahead of the CL second leg against ManCity: „Everyone must know what is at stake in the decisive phase of the season: to show who FC Bayern is.“
According to „Sport BILD“ information, Bayern will soon conduct a major squad analysis and, together with Thomas Tuchel, „sort out“ those players who do not embody the Bayern mentality.
