Leroy Sane has been heavily criticised at FC Bayern in recent weeks. Whether fans, media or experts, the 27-year-old has repeatedly been the focus of criticism. Now the FCB star has spoken out about it himself for the first time.

According to his own statements, Sane is not the type who likes to give interviews. However, due to the turbulent weeks at FC Bayern, the offensive player decided to talk to „SPORT1“ about his current situation at the record champion.

Sane commented on the ongoing criticism of him as follows: „After one goal I am celebrated – after two or three weaker halves they discuss whether I am still good enough for FC Bayern or even the national team.

Sane knows he has to show more

The 27-year-old’s main gripe is the fact that he is always criticised very quickly: „Of course there’s always more, yes – but for me it’s often a bit too rapid in both directions in the assessment. Overall, I would like to see a more balanced approach.“

However, Sane also knows that he has not been playing to his full potential recently: „I know myself that I need to reward myself more in some actions, to score more goals.“

The Bayern professional also commented on his „DFB disqualification“. Sane is confident, however, that he will receive another call from national coach Hansi Flick in June: „I would have liked to be there, but I fully understand that Hansi wants to test a few new players in training and in the matches after the disappointing World Cup. That’s how he explained it to me. There were no other reasons, so it was perfectly fine with me. But of course I want to be back in June.
