In the winter, FC Bayern tried in vain to bring Alexander Nübel back from France ahead of schedule. At the time his loan contract in Monaco expires at the end of the season at the very latest, the 26-year-old will be back in Munich. According to current media reports, Nübel could then make a new attempt at the record champion.

The serious injury to Manuel Neuer and the departure of long-time goalkeeper coach Toni Tapalovic have caused quite a fuss at FC Bayern in recent weeks. From a purely sporting point of view, recent events could lead to a shake-up at the goalkeeper position at FCB.

With Yann Sommer, the Munich club has signed a new goalkeeper in winter who has the potential to succeed Manuel Neuer. But also Alexander Nübel could attack again in the summer at the Isar.

Rechner wants fair competition in the Bayern goal

As the „tz“ reports, Nübel has received clear signals from Munich that his chances of a Bayern return under the new goalkeeper coach Michael Rechner have improved significantly. The 42-year-old wants to lead the competition between the goalkeepers objectively and from a neutral point of view. Nübel had recently complained about the strained relationship with ex-goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic, who is a close confidant of Manuel Neuer.

However, the former U21 international was recently reluctant to commit to whether he would like to stay in Munich after his loan: „We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks. As of now, I will return. What happens in the summer, we’ll see. Everything is open. We will hold talks and see if it would make sense for me to actually return,“ he explained in „ZDF-Sportstudio“ at the end of January.

Monaco and Leipzig in lurking position

AS Monaco, on the other hand, continues to hope for a long-term commitment from Nübel. According to „tz“ information, the Ligue 1 club has already formally expressed interest in signing Nübel permanently from Bayern. So far, however, the French club has not received a response from Munich. Bayern are in no hurry in this regard and want to hold talks with Nübel about his future in peace until the summer. Contractually, he is still bound to the record champion until 2025.

In addition to Monaco, RB Leipzig is also said to have an eye on Nübel. According to Sport BILD, a move to the Saxons would definitely be an option for Nübel.
