Worst Bundesliga start since 2010 – Statistics confirm „Bayern crisis“

It is quite unbelievable to think that Bayern simultaneously had the best and the worst Bundesliga start of the season. After a furious start to the season, the Bayern form quickly fell from the Gladbach fixture.

In three matches in the Bundesliga season, Bayern have collected three points in the three draws. Against Gladbach, Bayern were stopped by a strong Yann Sommer who made 18 saves. In the next match, Union Berlin collected a deserved point, while VfB Stuttgart drew 2-2 in the last minutes via a penalty.

12 points in 6 games, this is Bayern’s worst season start in the Bundesliga since 2010. Strangely enough, Bayern still remain top of the table, but their current position will depend on Freiburg.

„It wasn’t enough. There was far too little movement, and intensity, from the one we usually play. There are six points that we are missing. That’s too much, at least four too many“, said Hasan Salihamidzic.

The pressure before the Champions League clash against FC Barcelona is increasing. A home defeat against the Catalans would completely dampen the euphoria at the start of the season. Julian Nagelsmann remained calm after the Stuttgart game: „Pressure? I don’t know if the pressure has increased. Pressure is always subjective and comes from the outside. We will keep working, training tomorrow and on Monday, analyzing the opposition, and trying to come up with good ideas for the Barcelona game.“

Thomas Müller, on the other hand, was angry after the draw: „Today I’m angry for the first time this season – angry at ourselves. If we want to win every game, and that’s our goal, then then we must give our all to the end. It doesn’t matter if we have an important game during the week. In our current situation, you have to give everything to the end.”
