The Robert Lewandowski chapter has finally been history at Bayern Munich since this Tuesday. The 33-year-old paid a last visit and said goodbye to the staff, the board of directors, and former teammates.

Lewandowski had already announced two weeks ago that he would return to Munich to say goodbye to Bayern and, above all, to the locals. The Pole took almost 3 hours on Tuesday morning to say goodbye to all employees at the club’s facilities and office.

According to his own statements, this was not an easy moment for him: „It was sad, but I can now continue with a clean heart. I will always be grateful for what I have gained and experienced here. I thanked everyone for what they did for me and gave them gifts. It was an emotional and difficult moment for me,“ he said in an interview with Sky Germany.

Lewandowski also confirmed that there was also a clarifying conversation with Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic: „Everything is okay. I met everyone and thanked them for everything. I will never forget what I experienced here. The last few weeks have been difficult for everyone but I will never forget what I experienced here and I thank the fans for their support.“

Last week, the 33-year-old repeatedly criticized the management team at FC Bayern for their „imprudent behavior“ in recent months. It is to be hoped that there will be no further disagreements between the two sides after the debate.
