Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann expressed himself last week with doubt about Barcelona’s financial resources to buy players despite the crisis. President Joan Laporta has now responded to the statements.

„It’s the only club in the world that doesn’t have any money but buys any player they want,“ Nagelsmann said last week when asked about FC Barcelona’s transfer activities following the signings of Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski. While one might think Nagelsmann just expressed what everyone thinks, the statements certainly did not go well within the Barcelona board, but also the Bayern board, where Oliver Kahn had to intervene.

Barça boss Joan Laporta reacted very clearly to Nagelsmann’s statements during a media conference at Barca’s US tour: „They should look at their account, they received significant money from the transfer of Lewandowski. I respect everyone and do not interfere in other people’s business. What they are doing is a distortion of reality. They should mind their own business“

Laporta also made it clear that such statements are based on „lack of information about FC Barcelona“. The 60-year-old also made it clear that Barcelona will be once again competitive and have already „won“ the battle for the best transfer window of the year: „Barça is competitive again and will take part in all competitions. The weight and strength of a club with more than 122 years of history are very great, its wealth is highly valued. They don’t know the value of Barcelona.“
