Leroy Sane was handed a start against Arminia Bielefeld on Monday night and capped off his performance with a lovely assist as he clipped in an inviting ball for Corentin Tolisso who headed home from close range.

Hansi Flick was pleased with Sane’s efforts despite a slow start in the first half. Flick then stated that Sane dramatically improved as the match went on and was a deciding factor that allowed his side to get back into the game and eventually claim a point.
Flick spoke to Bild about Sane’s performance:
“Leroy has outstanding qualities — he is an artist,” said Flick. “In the first half it wasn’t easy with the state of the pitch. His second half was a lot better. He contributed to our comeback. That makes me feel positive about him.”
Sane had a rough start to life for the German champions and has not always been Flick’s favorite but the manager has always stood by his player, even when others would not have.

Sane is now providing cover for injured duo Serge Gnabry and Douglas Costa and if he keeps putting in performances as he did against Bielefeld, the starting job out wide is his to lose.
