Harry Kane is virtually unstoppable right now. Even in Bayern Munich’s disappointing 3-3 draw against Viking Stavanger, the Englishman demonstrated his exceptional goal-scoring abilities. With his two goals, the 33-year-old brought Munich back into the game after they had fallen behind 0-2. In the process, Kane once again made Champions League history.
With his two goals in Norway, the Bayern star surpassed none other than Lionel Messi in a special statistical category.
Since his 30th birthday, Kane has now scored 36 goals in the Champions League. Messi scored 35 goals during the same age span.
Particularly impressive: While the Argentine needed a total of 48 games to score his 35 goals, Kane reached his mark of 36 goals after just 40 appearances.
Kane is now chasing Cristiano Ronaldo
In the rankings of the most prolific Champions League scorers after turning 30, Kane is now just behind Karim Benzema, who scored 37 goals. Cristiano Ronaldo remains at the top. The Portuguese star has scored an incredible 68 goals in the Champions League since turning 30.
But Kane has not only overtaken Messi; he has also set another remarkable record.
The match against Viking Stavanger was already the ninth consecutive Champions League game in which Kane scored at least one goal. With this, the Englishman tied Robert Lewandowski and Ruud van Nistelrooy, who had also achieved such a streak.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo has done better so far, having once scored in eleven consecutive Champions League matches.
This means Kane will have the opportunity to challenge that record as well in the coming weeks.
If the Bayern striker scores against Arsenal and Atlético Madrid, he would tie Ronaldo’s record. Another goal against Lille would even make him the sole record-holder.
While Munich is still searching for its best form after two consecutive draws, Kane continues to be in outstanding form.
That’s good news for Bayern Munich, as they can always count on their goal-scorer—even in tough games.
