FC Bayern continues to work on a contract extension with Harry Kane. Sporting director Max Eberl has now confirmed that talks are underway and that both sides are generally very satisfied with each other. The 52-year-old isn’t ready to call it a mere formality just yet—but he doesn’t see any major obstacles either.
Harry Kane’s future is one of the most important personnel issues at FC Bayern. The English striker’s contract runs through 2027, but the Munich club would like to keep its star forward for much longer.
Recently, there have been many indications that Kane himself is open to an extension. In an interview with SAT.1, Eberl was asked whether the new contract is now merely a formality and whether Bayern fans can rest easy.
While the sporting director did not want to preempt an agreement, he expressed overall optimism.
Eberl confirms ongoing talks with Kane
“I wouldn’t say ‘put their minds at ease,’ because so much can still happen with contracts until they’re actually signed,” Eberl explained.
The 52-year-old added: “As the saying goes: Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. But we’ve had talks and are continuing to have them.”
Eberl thus confirmed once again that both parties are engaged in concrete talks about the future. At the same time, the relationship between Kane and FC Bayern appears to be excellent.
“We both feel very comfortable with each other. He feels very at home in Munich,” emphasized the Bayern boss.
From a sporting perspective, too, there are hardly any arguments against continuing the partnership from Munich’s standpoint. Since his move from Tottenham Hotspur, Kane has been the German record champions’ key goal-scorer and has proven his immense importance to the team time and again.
“We’re absolutely thrilled that he’s at FC Bayern, and it’s no coincidence that he’s won the Golden Boot for the second time,” Eberl gushed.
“Accordingly, I don’t see any obstacles.”
In addition to the on-field situation, Kane’s well-being within the team is apparently also playing a decisive role in the discussions. “He feels very comfortable on the team, and that’s what matters to him,” explained Eberl. Furthermore, Kane has now achieved something in Munich that he had to wait a long time for: “He’s also won team titles for the first time in his career.”
Last season, the Englishman won the domestic double—the league title and the DFB Cup—with FC Bayern.
Eberl’s concluding assessment is likely to give Bayern fans a great deal of hope. Looking ahead to continued collaboration, the sporting director made it clear: “Accordingly, I don’t see any obstacles.”
While an agreement has not yet been officially reached, the signs continue to point clearly toward a contract extension. Most recent reports indicate that Bayern favors a contract through 2029, while Kane’s side is said to prefer a term running through 2030.
