According to the report, the decisive steps were already taken during the training camp at Lake Tegernsee. At that time, the Executive Committee agreed to continue working with the 52-year-old.
Since five members of the nine-person supervisory board—Herbert Hainer, Uli Hoeneß, and representatives from Adidas, Audi, and Allianz—already sit on the executive committee, Tuesday’s approval is considered a mere formality.
Eberl and Kompany are expected to remain in their positions until 2029
The planned contract term is particularly noteworthy. Eberl’s new contract would run until 2029, just like head coach Vincent Kompany’s contract. This would allow Bayern to ensure long-term continuity in the two most important sporting leadership positions.
From the club officials’ perspective, the 2026 summer transfer window is a particularly strong argument in Eberl’s favor. Unlike last year, squad planning was pushed forward early with the signings of Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari. Bara Sapoko Ndiaye was also signed on a permanent basis.
In addition, the Munich club is making progress in trimming the roster. According to consistent media reports, João Palhinha is set to join Benfica. Aside from a potential transfer fee, this move would primarily save Bayern the Portuguese player’s high salary.

While FC Bayern continues to rely on Eberl as the key figure responsible for the professional team’s sporting direction, it is redistributing specific responsibilities within the leadership.
