FC Bayern has taken several young players along on its tour of Asia. Max Eberl now explains what the future holds for these talents.
With Felipe Chavez, Maycon Cardozo, Guido Della Rovere, Filip Pavic, Bastian Assomo, and Tim Binder, Bayern had six young talents on their Asian tour.
In Hong Kong, sporting director Max Eberl explained what the next steps are for them and the other young players from the Bayern Campus.
No further loan moves are planned for the time being: “Of course, we also have a second team, and with Dante we have a new coach. And we have an extremely close relationship between the U23 team and the first team,” he said.
Eberl explained: “This was the next step for us in this collaboration because we have a great many young players who frequently train with the first team. Accordingly, there won’t be an overwhelming number of loan deals anymore; instead, we want to keep these players with us.”
Eberl raves about the “close connection”
Gradually, spots on the pro team will become scarcer for these young talents. Eberl added: “We still have injured players. When we return, Harry Kane will join us, Dayot Upamecano will join us, Michael Olise will join us, and hopefully Jamal Musiala will be back by then, and Alphonso Davies will join us as well.”
In the friendly against RB Leipzig this coming Saturday, however, the team will still have to rely on a few young players: “There are still one or two who are injured, and we’re playing Leipzig on Saturday. So it’s likely that the young players will still be in the lineup.”

Eberl noted: “During preseason, you naturally want the young players around, and that’s going to stay that way for now.”
The 52-year-old also raved about the collaboration among Bayern’s leadership when it comes to planning for the youth players: “That’s the beauty of it: We’re in constant communication about who gets to play, when, and where. Because playing time is simply the best and most important asset we have.”
According to Eberl, there is a “close working relationship” with sporting director Christoph Freund, the sporting director at the campus, Michael Wiesinger, and coach Vincent Kompany. They are “constantly coordinating” regarding Bayern’s young players.
