While Vincent Kompany continues preparations for the new season with his squad at Tegernsee, one player is conspicuously absent: Bryan Zaragoza. The Spanish attacking midfielder did not travel to the training camp and is instead continuing his rehabilitation program at Säbener Straße.
As reported by BILD, the 24-year-old is still struggling with knee inflammation and is therefore unable to participate in team training. For FC Bayern, this development comes at a particularly inopportune time.
Injury Further Complicates Sale
Zaragoza has been one of the record champions’ clear candidates for a transfer for weeks. Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, made this unequivocally clear on Wednesday during the presentation of new signing Nathaniel Brown: “We have three players whom we’re prepared to let go. They have no future at FC Bayern. If they want to stay with us, it will be difficult, because we’re not planning on them. Then they won’t play a role. That applies to Sacha Boey, Joao Palhinha, and Bryan Zaragoza.”
The attacking player would like to return to Spain if possible; most recently, Espanyol Barcelona and Sevilla FC, among others, have been mentioned as potential suitors. However, no concrete negotiations are said to have taken place yet.
His latest injury layoff is likely to further complicate the situation. Potential buyers will be watching closely to see when Zaragoza is fully fit again. As long as this question remains unanswered, it will likely become even more difficult for FC Bayern to find a club willing to meet Munich’s asking price.
