Michael Olise and the French national team are among the favorites for the 2026 World Cup. The FC Bayern forward made a big impression in his very first game. A teammate is now raving about him.
That’s not uncommon these days, anyway. Many experts and teammates are full of praise when asked about Olise.
No wonder, since his fabulous season with FC Bayern has caught the attention of clubs like Liverpool FC and Real Madrid.
However, FC Bayern has recently made it crystal clear that there is no chance of selling the player. Instead, his contract—which currently runs through 2029—is set to be extended early.
No talks regarding Olise at the moment
While talks between FC Bayern and the player’s side are on hold during the World Cup—just as they are with Harry Kane—Olise generally feels at home in Munich and has found a sporting environment there that suits him very well.
Real Madrid has also issued a statement regarding the player. In it, the club explicitly stated that it had not made contact with the player, his advisors, or his representatives. Nevertheless, no one can rule out the possibility that this might happen in the future, which is why Bayern wants to be prepared.

Teammate William Saliba has now highlighted just how important Olise is—not only for Bayern but also for the national team.
Saliba raves about the Bayern star
At the French national team’s press conference, Saliba said: “Yes, Michael is—as everyone can see—obviously an absolute star. He’s a fantastic player. Of course, he still has a long way to go before he can be compared to legends like Platini or Zidane. But yes, it’s definitely great to have him here on our team.”
The Arsenal defender couldn’t stop gushing. “He’s a player who’s got it all, that’s for sure. He can handle the toughest situations, which is important. I think one day he’ll be able to play in their league, but for now it’s still a little too early,” Saliba explained.
And: “Technically, he’s absolutely world-class—he can shoot, pass, and dribble well. He also knows exactly what he needs to do and when.”
