The rumors surrounding Josko Gvardiol and FC Bayern continue to swirl. BILD’s head of soccer Christian Falk has now revealed new details about the Croatian international’s situation – and they should certainly make Bayern fans sit up and take notice
According to the report, the record champions are still interested in the Manchester City defensive star, although the track is not yet „ultra, ultra hot“, as Falk explains in his Bayern Insider podcast
Internally, Gvardiol apparently continues to enjoy an excellent reputation at Säbener Straße: „They think Gvardiol is very good,“ emphasized Falk
Particularly interesting: The Croatian could be deployed in several positions for Bayern. In addition to his role as a central defender, Gvardiol could also play on the left side of defense – an important factor given Alphonso Davies‘ injury problems
Davies‘ departure could change everything
According to Falk, a potential transfer is therefore closely linked to the Canadian’s future: „If Davies could be sold, for example to Saudi Arabia, then Gvardiol could also play left-back,“ explained the transfer expert
In concrete terms, this means that the issue could only develop seriously if Bayern generate more income
The biggest problem remains the transfer fee, with Manchester City reportedly demanding at least €70 million. Given the Croatian’s contract runs until 2028, this demand is hardly surprising. „He would be available in the summer,“ Falk emphasized, but added: „In the end, money will be the decisive factor.“
Gvardiol is „really keen“ on Bayern

What is particularly exciting from Bayern’s point of view is that the player himself is apparently very interested in a move to Munich. „I’ve heard that he’s really keen on Bayern,“ Falk revealed. According to this, a return to the Bundesliga appeals to Gvardiol enormously. „It’s rare for a Premier League player to want to return to Germany, but Bayern would appeal to him enormously,“ Falk continued
The player’s entourage are also said to be actively supporting and pushing for a move to the record champions
However, Manchester City apparently want to keep their defensive star for the long term. According to Falk, Gvardiol has already signed a new five-year contract with the Sky Blues. The Croatian „just has to sign it“.
