Josip Stanisic has developed from a solid squad player to an indispensable key player at FC Bayern. Now the Munich club have apparently made a clear decision: the Croatian is no longer available internally

The situation was quite different not so long ago. Last summer, Juventus Turin are said to have shown great interest in Stanisic. According to media reports, FC Bayern had even asked for a price tag of around €50 million at the time
However, a transfer did not materialise – and in retrospect, Munich are probably anything but unhappy about this, as Stanisic took the next step in his development under Vincent Kompany. „Stani needed a bit of time. Now he’s here and has played himself into an important role,“ explained the Bayern coach recently

The further development of the defensive player is particularly striking. For a long time, Stanisic was regarded as a rather defensive-oriented full-back, but this season he has become much more variable – and above all more active offensively
With three goals and six assists in 28 competitive matches, he has impressively underlined his new status, and even injuries at the start of the season have not set him back in the long term
Sporting director Christoph Freund expressly praised this development: „He’s getting better and better as a footballer, is becoming more and more confident going forward and is very active.“
Role model for the Bayern campus
Stanisic has long since taken on a special role internally. Together with players such as Lennart Karl and Aleksandar Pavlovic, he is regarded as a „prime example“ of the successful path from the youth ranks to the first team
His career underlines this status: after years on campus and a decisive loan to Bayer Leverkusen, where he won the double in 2024, he is now a permanent fixture in the Bayern starting eleven
