The German Football League scheduled the next Bundesliga matchdays on Thursday, but the new fixture list poses a potential problem for FC Bayern
The Munich team will face VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, April 19, at 5:30 p.m. However, the semi-finals of the DFB Cup are scheduled just a few days later, with one of the two matches being played on Tuesday, April 21
Should both FC Bayern and Stuttgart be scheduled for this match, one of the two teams would only have a one-day break between the Bundesliga and the cup – an extremely unusually short period at this level
The possible scheduling problem is already causing discussion, and the sports information service SID has asked the German Football Association for a possible solution, but has not yet received an answer
How exactly the association will deal with the situation is therefore still unclear. It would be conceivable, for example, to adjust the cup scheduling if both clubs are actually affected
Tight Bayern match schedule in April
The published fixture list already shows an intensive phase for FC Bayern. The Munich team will host SC Freiburg on April 4 (3.30 pm), followed a week later by a home game against FC St. Pauli on Saturday, April 11, at 6.30 pm
The clash against VfB Stuttgart on April 19 could then present a particularly tricky constellation if the DFB Cup semi-final is scheduled immediately afterwards
The quarter-finals of the Champions League will also be played in April, and if Bayern beat Atalanta Bergamo in the round of 16, the winner of the clash between Real Madrid and Manchester City will be waiting in the last 16.
