While the disappointing result against Augsburg, who were fifteenth in the table before the game, caused frustration in Munich, Leverkusen also heaped scorn on the team. Kompany reacts calmly
When asked at the press conference whether the defeat against FCA was particularly bitter, given that the chance to go unbeaten in the championship has now been lost, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany replied: „Not really. If we now go ten months unbeaten again, everything will be fine for me.“
Kompany continued: „I want to achieve a lot with this club and in my career as a coach, but for me personally this would be a success for the boys, I just want to support them. I don’t want to sound philosophical, but these are really my thoughts. I can live without this unbeaten season if we keep winning titles and being successful.“
The first defeat in the Bundesliga will not put Bayern’s championship in concrete danger for the time being anyway. The record champions are still jostling at the top of the table with a comfortable points cushion. Even a BVB victory in Berlin would not change that too much. Borussia would then still be eight points behind FCB.
