FC Bayern bans the entire south curve against Saint-Gilloise due to a UEFA penalty for pyrotechnics
FC Bayern will have to do without the support of the entire south curve in their next Champions League home game against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. Following the repeated use of pyrotechnics in UEFA competitions, the UEFA Disciplinary Committee has once again sanctioned the German record champions
Specifically, FC Bayern was fined €50,000 and UEFA also ordered a partial closure of the Allianz Arena for the upcoming home match in the Premier League on 21 January. This officially affects blocks 111 to 114 in the lower tier of the south curve. The measure is the consequence of the use of pyrotechnics at the home match against Sporting Lisbon on 9 December 2025 and activates a previously suspended suspended sentence
However, the implementation of this penalty poses an organizational problem for FC Bayern. There is no block-based ticket allocation in the lower tier of the South Curve at home matches. All 9,336 standing tickets for blocks 109 to 117 are equally valid, and it is not technically possible to block individual blocks
For this reason, the club has decided to take a drastic step. In a first step, all tickets for the south curve will be cancelled. All tickets will therefore lose their validity for the match against Saint-Gilloise, and access to the Allianz Arena will not be possible for holders of these tickets. FC Bayern will refund the full ticket price to the affected fans. The cancellation of the tickets will take place on Friday
Whether at least parts of the South Curve can still be released at a later date remains to be seen. Should the seats in blocks 109 to 110 and 115 to 117 go on sale again, the club will provide specific information about the next steps and organizational details as soon as possible
One thing is certain: Vincent Kompany’s team will have to play their Champions League home game in front of a significantly different crowd – and will have to do without the support of the South Curve.
