Eberl on Upamecano poker: „Actually on the right track“
Sporting director Max Eberl had already emphasized that talks were ongoing. „We are talking. We have been talking for some time and are actually on the right track,“ explained Eberl at the press conference ahead of the German record champions‘ Bundesliga match in Heidenheim
At the same time, he made it clear that this is a landmark decision for Upamecano regarding his future: „This is a big contract for Upa, an important time in his career. There are many arguments in favour of Bayern. But of course, there is probably also the argument in the player’s head: why not try something else?“
Nevertheless, the Bayern management is optimistic. „We want to and we’re stepping on the gas. Then we’ll see how quickly we can make it work,“ Eberl continued. The fact that an exceptionally strong offer has now been made, according to Romano, underlines Munich’s desire to keep the defender for the long term.
