Minister President Markus Söder surprisingly brought the goalscorer into discussion for the Bavarian Order of Merit and openly linked this with a wish: a contract extension beyond 2027

In an interview with BILD, Bavaria’s Minister President Markus Söder explained that Kane could „theoretically“ receive the Bavarian Order of Merit – one of the state’s highest honors
However, Söder emphasized: „It doesn’t happen quite so quickly with footballers.“ But Kane is a candidate: „I’ll put him on the list.“
The medal as bait – Söder links award to contract extension
The most remarkable sentence followed: „If he extends his contract, it will make it possible in any case.“
Söder openly expresses what many in Munich hope: that Kane will extend his contract beyond 2027. The CSU politician believes in a long-term stay anyway. One reason for this is Kane’s wife, who, according to Söder, has repeatedly emphasized „that they feel very, very comfortable in Munich and Bavaria“
It would be a rare step, as active professionals are practically never awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit. Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer were the most recent recipients – now Kane could join this exclusive circle
The record champions are firmly planning to have Kane as the face of the club in the coming years. The striker himself recently described his move to FC Bayern as „one of the best decisions of my life“. His role as a goalscorer, leading player and international brand ambassador makes him indispensable in both sporting and commercial terms
