Just 13 match days have passed – but much of the title race already seems decided. One person who nevertheless urges caution is Uli Hoeneß
At the gala evening „A Heart for Children„, organized by BILD, Bayern’s honorary president appeared as a celebrity guest, where he also took the time to answer sporting questions
A reporter asked the provocative question of whether he had already started planning the championship celebrations. The answer came promptly and clearly: „No, we don’t want to be arrogant. We took an important step against Stuttgart because it was a difficult game after the schedule of the last few weeks. When our injured players like Musiala and Davies come back, I’m confident of the title.“
Bayern had previously proved their exceptional status once again in the 5-0 win over Stuttgart, and progressing in the DFB Cup was also an important step – especially as the record champions had been knocked out early in the cup in previous years. They are eight points clear of Leipzig in the Bundesliga, while Dortmund are already twelve points behind – albeit with one game less
Bayern players were „as happy as little children“

Hoeneß doesn’t want to jump to conclusions, however, and told tz with a view to the coming months: „Our team naturally wants to become German champions and go far internationally again. I’m also sure that the players will do everything they can to go to Berlin again [ins DFB-Pokalfinale]. After the game against Union Berlin, you could see how happy they were – like little children, because we hadn’t been to Berlin for a long time.“
In addition to sporting issues, Hoeneß‘ main focus on the gala evening was social commitment. „I didn’t come empty-handed. I collected donations from the club and from my family,“ he emphasized. The 160,000 euros were made up of 60,000 euros from his family and 100,000 euros from the FC Bayern Hilfe e.V. foundation.
