Harry Kane has opened up about his current season, his role at FC Bayern and his personal form.
At the press conference before the game in Albania (2-0), Kane was asked if he was currently in the best shape of his career. His answer: „I would say probably yes. I’ve had good periods in my career, but physically, mentally, the goals, my involvement in the game – it’s more now than in previous years. I feel like I’m in a really good phase at Bayern. The season is going really well so far.“
In the European Championship qualifiers, he scored eight goals in seven games and captained England to the final round – Kane scored both goals in England’s 2-0 win against Albania.
Things are also going well for the 32-year-old in Munich. 23 goals and three assists in 17 competitive games make him the most prolific player in the Bundesliga. But it’s not just his finishing ability that stands out. Kane is showing a much greater range in his game this season, taking responsibility in almost all phases and situations.
Not just a goalscorer, but a pace-setter
FC Bayern are delighted to see how Kane interprets his role. The attacker regularly leaves his central position, drops deep into midfield and actively participates in the build-up play. In doing so, he provides new dynamism and creates spaces for his teammates.
His heatmaps show a clear picture: compared to the previous season, Kane moves much more often in his own half, is involved in winning the ball and also contributes to defensive work. In pressing situations, he works backwards, gets involved in tackles and even wins the ball in his own penalty area. This is a style of play that goes far beyond the profile of a classic penalty area striker.
Internally, his consistency, professionalism and adaptability are also appreciated. Kane has become a fixture for coaches and the team – not just because of his goals, but because of his overall intelligence.
