Harry Kane scores, leads – and is already thinking about the future! After scoring his 20th goal of the season in FC Bayern’s 4-0 win over Club Brugge, the English superstar spoke for the first time about possible talks regarding a contract extension. The goalscorer hinted that the course could be set in the new year.

With his goal against the Belgian runners-up, the 32-year-old added to his impressive tally and once again made history: 20 goals in just twelve competitive matches – a rate that even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo failed to achieve at the start of their record-breaking seasons.

The fans‘ desire for Kane to stay with the record champions beyond 2027 is correspondingly high. And the striker himself seems to be able to imagine staying in Munich permanently.

„Maybe in the new year“ – Kane announces talks

After the game, Kane was surprisingly specific about his future, telling BILD : „The talks won’t take place next month, but maybe in the new year. Then we will discuss it. We’re in a good position, I feel good. We are not hectic. I’m not, I don’t think the club is either.“

This is the first time the England captain has confirmed that initial talks are planned regarding an extension to his contract, which runs until 2027 – albeit without any time pressure.

Kane’s words reflect the relaxed mood at the record champions. Both the player and the club management around Jan-Christian Dreesen, Max Eberl and Christoph Freund want to approach the issue with calm and foresight.

Kompany extension as a signal for Kane

Vincent Kompany is likely to be an important factor in Kane’s decision. The Bayern coach extended his contract until 2029 just last week – a move that Kane expressly welcomes: „Kompany is a big part of the club and an important part of why I enjoy being here so much. The extension is great news. Vinnie is important and it’s good to know that he has such a long contract now. When the talks start, we’ll see what happens.“

The England captain’s words clearly show how comfortable he feels under Kompany. The striker has blossomed since he took over – not only as a goalscorer, but also as a leader.

Everything points to an extension

Kane has settled into life in Munich in record time – on a sporting, personal and family level. His wife Katie and their three children feel at home in the Bavarian capital, and the chemistry with his team-mates is just right.

Harry Kane staying at FC Bayern for longer would not only be a sporting guarantee, but also a strong signal of stability and continuity – in line with the new Bayern way under Vincent Kompany.

And with this starting position, Kane’s words sound like a quiet anticipation: „When the talks start, we’ll see what happens.“
