In recent weeks, there have been increasing reports that Dayot Upamecano could leave FC Bayern in the summer. According to these reports, the 25-year-old is being scrutinised internally at FCB. The Frenchman himself, however, is not considering a departure from the German record champions.
Things have not really been going well for Dayot Upamecano at FC Bayern in recent weeks. Due to inconsistent performances and suspensions, the French international has lost his regular place under Thomas Tuchel. In last weekend’s 8:1 win against Mainz 05, Upamecano did not feature at all.
Recently, there has been repeated speculation about the defender’s sporting future. According to reports, those responsible at the Isar are quite prepared to sell Upamecano in the summer if they receive an attractive offer.
Upamecano commits himself to FC Bayern
For the 25-year-old himself, leaving the German record champions at the end of the season is out of the question: „No, not at all. I have a contract until 2026, I feel good – at the club and with my team-mates. I want to stay here at FC Bayern and will continue to give it my all,“ he emphasised in an interview with kicker.
The current rumours and discussions about his person do not seem to bother Upamecano: „That’s football,“ he emphasised. According to his own statements, there have been no talks with Bayern bosses about his future: „No, no. Why would there be?“
One thing is clear: Upamecano is currently only the third option in the centre of defence. Matthijs de Ligt and Eric Dier have played well together: „Eric talks a lot and that’s good for us. He has a good relationship with Matthijs de Ligt. That’s why they’re ahead by a nose right now.“ and added: „That’s why they’re ahead by a nose right now. But it’s a pity for Upa. He’s seen two red cards and has suffered a bit as a result.“
