In the summer of 2019, Jamal Musiala moved from Chelsea FC to FC Bayern as a promising youngster. Almost three years later, the attacking all-rounder has developed into an absolute top performer at the German record champions. The Munich club would like to retain the DFB star on a long-term basis. According to the latest reports, however, Musiala is keen to return to the Premier League.
FC Bayern would like to initiate a sporting realignment in the summer, as CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has emphasised in the recent past. The main focus is on reorganising the current squad structure. According to reports, almost all players are being scrutinised. There are only a few exceptions, Jamal Musiala being one of them.
The 21-year-old is considered unsellable at Säbener Straße. Bayern would like to retain Musiala for the long term. As the British Daily Star reports, Musiala allegedly has other plans. According to the paper, the attacking player rejects an extension at FCB and is aiming for a return to the Premier League in the summer.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are courting Musiala
According to the Daily Star, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested in Musiala. All three would be willing to sign the German international in the upcoming transfer window. However, the FCB youngster is said to favour a move to the Sky Blues. According to the report, the reigning Champions League winners have already been informed that Musiala does not wish to extend his contract in Munich.
Talks with Bayern still pending
The reports from England should be treated with caution. Musiala is still contractually bound to the German record champions until 2026. Unlike players such as Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies or Leroy Sane (all of whom have contracts until 2025), there is therefore no rush to extend and/or sell him in the summer.
Furthermore, there have already been initial informative talks between club and player in the recent past. Bayern have made it very clear that they see Musiala as the „new face of the club“. The DFB national player feels very much at home in Munich, but would first like to wait for the current season and the EUROs before looking closely at his sporting future.
One thing is clear: Bayern are still the first port of call for Musiala. Furthermore, there have not yet been any concrete contract negotiations; these are still to come.
