FC Bayern are pressing ahead with their plans for the defense and apparently have an old Bundesliga acquaintance in their sights. Maxence Lacroix is the focus of the Munich club
As the TEAMtalk portal reports, Bayern are keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old central defender from Crystal Palace. The Frenchman has long since established himself in the Premier League and is one of his team’s most noticeable defensive players
Since joining Crystal Palace from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023, Lacroix has developed rapidly. Signed for around €18 million, he quickly became a regular and even took on the role of captain following the departure of Marc Guéhi
His greatest strength remains the same: pace. Lacroix is one of the fastest central defenders in Europe and therefore has a profile that is particularly in demand in the modern, high-level game
Bayern are watching – but not alone
Munich are not alone in their interest, however. Several top Premier League clubs are also keeping a close eye on Lacroix. Alongside Chelsea FC and Aston Villa, Liverpool FC are considered the hottest candidates
The Reds are urgently looking for defensive reinforcements, as Ibrahima Konaté is expected to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer
Possible Kim successor?
Lacroix could play a role at FC Bayern should there be changes in central defense, with Min-jae Kim in particular repeatedly linked with a move
In this case, Lacroix could come into focus as a dynamic alternative and revitalize the competition in the center of defence
However, a transfer would be anything but easy. Lacroix is still under contract with Crystal Palace until 2029 – the transfer fee is likely to be correspondingly high. His market value is estimated at €40 million. Bayern would therefore have to dig deep into their pockets to compete with financially strong Premier League clubs.
