Focus on dissatisfied Premier League professionals
One central element of Bayern’s strategy is clearly recognizable: instead of established regular players, the Munich club is specifically targeting professionals who are not completely satisfied at their current clubs
One name that has been repeatedly mentioned by FC Bayern recently is Josh Acheampong from Chelsea FC. According to Falk, there have been no concrete talks between the club and the player so far, but he has not heard any denials from the club, which can usually be interpreted as a sign that the player is at least on the shortlist
BILD reporter Julian Agardi explains the background to this approach in the podcast: „Of course, we also look at players who are not entirely happy in the Premier League.“
The reason is obvious: players who are settled and happy in England are difficult to sign – and usually only with enormous financial resources. „Premier League players who are really regulars and fully satisfied are probably difficult to convince,“ Agardi continues
Bayern is looking at several options
Although concrete names are currently being traded, a final decision has not yet been made. Bayern are rather sounding out the market and examining various profiles for the vacant position. In addition to Acheampong, Givairo Read from Feyenoord Rotterdam is considered a concrete transfer target for the summer
The requirements for a new right-back are clearly defined: they are not looking for a pure backup, but a player who can contribute to the competition in the future, while at the same time remaining economically viable – a balancing act that Bayern have had to master time and again in recent transfer windows
The current strategy shows that FC Bayern is increasingly thinking opportunistically when it comes to transfers. Instead of focusing exclusively on big names, the focus is on players who are in a transitional situation – and are therefore realistically available.
