In the decisive phase of the season, FC Bayern is getting unexpected support – from former coach Thomas Tuchel of all people
As Munich prepare for the crucial phase of the title race, some relief for Harry Kane has come at just the right time – thanks to Thomas Tuchel, who is now in charge of the England national team and is giving the Bayern striker some extra rest
The 52-year-old has decided that Kane and other England internationals will travel to the national team later, meaning the attacker will not play in the test match against Uruguay on March 27, but will instead travel to London to prepare for the game against Japan on March 31
There is a clear plan behind this measure: Tuchel wants to give other players the chance to recommend themselves ahead of the World Cup, while at the same time the additional break should help the key players to regain their physical and mental strength
„All of these players have played 3,500 minutes or more this season. Some have already played more minutes than in the whole of last season and there is still a lot of soccer to come,“ explained Tuchel. He added: „We believe it will benefit us to give them a break mentally and physically. They will come back with renewed energy.“
Kane an important factor in Bayern’s title race
This decision comes at the perfect time for FC Bayern, with a crucial phase of the season awaiting them after the international break: in addition to the final matchdays in the Bundesliga, the Champions League quarter-finals against Real Madrid and the semi-finals of the DFB Cup in Leverkusen await

A rested Kane could be the deciding factor, as the 32-year-old is having an outstanding season and has already scored 48 competitive goals – more than any other player in Europe’s top leagues
Kane himself also expressly welcomed his national coach’s decision: „I’m looking forward to the time off, it’s a very sensible decision. I’ll use it to my full advantage.“
