Leon Goretzka’s time at FC Bayern is coming to an end. After eight years at the German record champions, the midfielder will leave the club in the summer. The 31-year-old has now commented on his sporting future – and hinted that a move abroad particularly appeals to him
As his contract in Munich is due to expire and there are no plans to extend it, Goretzka will leave FC Bayern on a free transfer, making the experienced midfielder one of the most interesting players on the summer transfer market
In recent weeks, the German international has been linked with numerous clubs from Europe’s top leagues. Clubs from England, Spain, Italy and Turkey are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation. Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be interested in Goretzka
In an interview with Sky, Goretzka confirmed that a move abroad is definitely an option for him. „I think you can go that far and I would be interested in gaining experience abroad again,“ explained the 31-year-old
For the midfielder, it could even be the right time to take this step: „I had the feeling that now is the time for it. Maybe the last chance.“
Focus on Spain and Italy

Most recently, there has been speculation about a possible move to the Premier League, with reports claiming that FC Arsenal, among others, are very interested in signing the former Bayern player
However, other leagues could also be interested in Goretzka. In Spain, Atlético Madrid are considered a potential buyer. The Rojiblancos are said to have already looked closely at the midfielder during the winter
There is also interest from Italy, where Inter Milan, AC Milan and SSC Napoli are among the potential options
When asked whether the sunny climate in southern Europe would particularly appeal to him, Goretzka responded with a smile: „Who doesn’t like the sun? But I’m certainly not making my next stop dependent on the weather,“ emphasized the 31-year-old
His conclusion is nevertheless optimistic: „We’ll find something nice, I think.“
