The 24-year-old only moved from VfB Stuttgart to Newcastle United in the summer of 2025 for around €75 million. However, the German international is currently going through a difficult phase in England, which is why there has recently been speculation about a possible early departure
A report by the Football Insider portal caused a stir in mid-February, according to which Newcastle would be prepared to let Woltemade leave after just one season
The portal has now followed this up by reporting that Woltemade is available at a bargain price, with a possible transfer fee of just €35 to €45 million – significantly less than the sum the Magpies paid for the attacker in the summer
In this context, FC Bayern is once again being mentioned as a possible interested party
Woltemade wants to assert himself at Newcastle
According to information from BILD head of soccer Christian Falk, however, this scenario does not correspond to reality. In the „Bayern Insider“ podcast, Falk made it clear that Newcastle currently have no intention of selling the player. „Newcastle do not want to put the player up for sale at the moment,“ he emphasized
Woltemade himself is also not thinking of a quick departure from England
According to Falk, the former Stuttgart player is determined to make a name for himself at Newcastle and is aiming to put in a strong performance to earn a regular place at the 2026 World Cup
However, if his situation in England does not improve in the long term, a transfer could become an issue again at some point. According to Falk, Woltemade has a possible move to FC Bayern in the back of his mind. However, a transfer is not on the table in the short term. „The next step would then be a move to a Premier League club that plays a little higher in the table – or perhaps a return to the Bundesliga at some point,“ says the transfer expert.
