As reported by BILD, two prominent names in Munich in particular have been big admirers of the international player for years: Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Both apparently believe Schlotterbeck has what it takes to play for FC Bayern
Hoeneß is said to have already tried to bring the central defender to Munich in 2022, shortly before Schlotterbeck’s move from Freiburg to Dortmund. According to BILD, Rummenigge also sees him as a player with Bayern DNA: a leader, an international, a left-footed player with an outstanding opening and clear ambition at the highest level
Eberl backs Upamecano
The fact that Schlotterbeck will nevertheless not be heading to Munich next summer is said to be less due to a lack of interest and more due to sporting priorities. According to BILD, sporting director Max Eberl was not fully convinced by this personnel matter and instead went all-in on Dayot Upamecano’s new contract
Nevertheless, central defence is a sensitive issue for FC Bayern. The need could arise again in the future – especially with a view to the coming transfer periods. Should Schlotterbeck not extend his contract in Dortmund, a new scenario would arise in 2026 or 2027 at the latest. A transfer on a free transfer would then even be conceivable
BVB has made an offer – decision still open
Schlotterbeck has had a contract offer from BVB for months, but his sporting prospects in Dortmund are considered uncertain. A move to an international heavyweight seems more realistic – provided concrete offers arrive
