The competition at FC Bayern is currently more intense than ever. Lennart Karl in particular is feeling the effects of this. Board boss Jan-Christian Dreesen has now made a clear statement about the 18-year-old’s future.
Playing time is fiercely contested in the strong attacking area. Since Jamal Musiala has been getting regular playing time again after his injury, the situation in the center has become even tighter. In the 3:2 win in the classic in Dortmund, Karl recently did not play for 90 minutes and watched the game from the bench.
In an interview with Sport BILD, Dreesen nevertheless made it unmistakably clear what the club thinks of the youngster: „At 17, Lennart has performed extremely well and shown that he is not afraid of competition. He knows what he has at FC Bayern, he knows that he is at one of the biggest clubs in the world. Anyone who manages to assert themselves here can make it anywhere and has a brilliant future ahead of them. He has a long-term contract with us until 2029. I’m optimistic about the future.“
Sporting prospects decisive for Karl’s future

Karl came of age on February 22, and an automatic clause means that his contract now runs long-term until 2029. This means that he already has planning security.
According to information from BILD, the German record champions would like to extend the collaboration even further in the future. However, there are currently no concrete talks about a further extension. As BILD reporter Christian Falk reports, those responsible see no pressure to act.
Karl’s advisor Michael Ballack is also said not to be pushing for new negotiations, although the attacking player reportedly only earns around two million euros a year. The player’s side apparently wants to observe first how the 18-year-old’s sporting role develops in the tightly packed Bayern squad.
