With the score at 0:1 after Dortmund’s opening goal by Nico Schlotterbeck, Bayern’s lead in the Blitz table had dwindled to five points. After the final whistle and the victory in the classic match, the Bayern stars were able to celebrate the championship with their fans in the stands
Bayern now have an eleven-point lead with ten games remaining, a lead that no team in the history of the Bundesliga has ever lost. Joshua Kimmich made an announcement after the game: „It’s going to stay that way!“ he announced on Sky
Kimmich did not beat about the bush, even if the title is not yet mathematically wrapped up. „It’s already up to us. You have to be honest about that. We now have an eleven-point lead. We won’t give that up,“ said the captain of the German national team
Coach Vincent Kompany was not quite as offensive – but that is probably in the nature of things and his job: „It’s eleven points now, we’re moving on again. Why stop now? Just keep going full throttle.“
Of course, last season’s champion coach also knows that he can save the next title in his CV. Kompany has to keep the tension high, because there are still more titles to be won in the DFB Cup and the Champions League. The Belgian is looking forward to these tasks with a positive attitude: „I’m looking forward to these last two or three months now.“
2. Kimmich makes an impressive return
Back to Joshua Kimmich: The Bayern leader has been the subject of criticism of late. Since the start of the year, his stats have not been quite as brilliant as they were in 2025. He has also made mistakes, such as in the last home game against Eintracht Frankfurt, when he conceded a goal after slipping up and misplacing a pass. Kimmich literally provided the answer on the pitch in Dortmund. With a precise chip ball to Gnabry, Kimmich initiated Bayern’s 1:1 through Harry Kane. Kimmich then scored the winner himself at Signal Iduna Park with a superb left-footed shot. Kimmich, together with Kane, was the match winner – and made an impressive comeback after the dip in form of the last few games
Kimmich said of his dream goal after the match: „I didn’t have many options left at that moment. I just concentrated on getting the ball in properly. And luckily it went in at the back. I generally don’t score that many goals now, so I’m happy to take every goal. To make it 3:2 so late on in Dortmund is of course something very special.“
There was praise for Kimmich from all sides after the game. Even BVB coach Niko Kovac raved: „We would have deserved a point today. But the small but subtle difference was Joshua Kimmich. Not only with the third goal, which he takes sensationally, but also with the first goal.“ Kovac continued: „I don’t have to sing Jo’s praises here, but that’s world class: the way he passes to Serge, the way he smashes the thing in – others smash the thing under the roof. And he smashes the thing into the goal.“
Kimmich’s top performance was also recognized by his own ranks, with sporting director Christoph Freund summing up: „Today he showed once again how important he is.“

3. The Lewandowski record is shaking more and more

Kane said: „I know that question is being asked after every game now, but there are still a lot of games to go. I need to be consistent in that time and we’ll see at the end of April if that’s possible.“
With the numbers Kane is putting up right now, the Lewandowski record is well within his grasp. The goalscorer bagged his fourth brace in a row at BVB. Kane has scored a career-best 45 goals in all competitions so far
The two goals in Dortmund will not be his last of the season. Lewandowski’s record is becoming increasingly shaky from matchday to matchday.
