The Bundesliga classic between Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern is already under high tension in sporting terms – but there is also the threat of a logistical state of emergency around Signal Iduna Park on Saturday evening
The reason is a nationwide warning strike by the trade union ver.di in local public transport. Dortmund is also affected. From Friday morning until Sunday night, there will be no DSW21 buses and streetcars. This means that all public transport in the city will be cancelled – for the top match of all things, with over 81,000 spectators expected
Getting there will be a challenge

Normally, several bus and tram lines run directly to the stadium. This option is now completely eliminated. Replacement buses are not planned. For many fans, including numerous FC Bayern supporters, this means: rescheduling – and allowing significantly more time
Although it is possible to travel by car, there are only around 10,000 parking spaces available around the stadium. Traffic jams in the city centre, on the B1 and in the immediate vicinity of the stadium are likely. Those arriving by car should form carpools if possible and set off early
Regional trains from Dortmund main station to the „Signal Iduna Park“ station offer an alternative. The journey only takes a few minutes. However, extremely high capacity is also to be expected here. Crowds and waiting times are a realistic scenario
Arrive early, keep calm
For Bayern fans traveling from Munich or other parts of Germany, one thing above all is therefore important: plan early. If you arrive in Dortmund shortly before kick-off, you could have problems getting to the stadium in time
The classic itself promises to be a real sporting highlight in the title race, but fans should be prepared for a long and potentially nerve-wracking day of travel to ensure that support from the stands does not falter.
