In an interview with Sky, the 29-year-old looked back emotionally on his move to the Isar – and made it clear how clear his decision was at the time. „When FC Bayern approached me, it was clear to me from the very first moment that I wanted to opt for this transfer,“ explained Díaz
For the attacking player, the move to Munich was far more than just a career move. „It filled me with pride because I had known the club for a long time and basically knew what to expect there.“ The German record champions have always had a special appeal for him. Interest quickly turned into conviction
„A decision for an incredible team“
It is clear to see that Díaz now feels fully integrated. On the pitch, he impresses with his pace, intensity and scoring points – and he also raves about the atmosphere at the club. „It was a good decision – a decision for an incredible and great team,“ he emphasized
It was particularly important for him to feel comfortable not only in sporting terms, but also in his private life. „When you come somewhere new, you naturally want to give your best and feel comfortable where you are. Being happy is the most important thing for a player and his family.“ He has found exactly this feeling in Munich
The infrastructure, the training ground, the professional environment – all of this confirmed his expectations. „It was clear to me that I would meet an incredibly great group of footballers here and that I would find a club with an excellent infrastructure. I had no doubts about that.“
Only the language remains a hurdle
However, there is still one challenge: the German language. „The most difficult thing for me and my family was and is certainly the language,“ admitted Díaz openly. But even that doesn’t seem to be throwing him off balance
Instead, he sees his move as a commitment: „FC Bayern placed their trust in me and I’m trying to repay that trust on the pitch.“ In view of his performances, it’s fair to say that he has more than fulfilled this promise so far
The supposed stopgap has become one of the most important building blocks in Munich’s attacking play – and a player who has long since identified with the club.
