FC Bayern are apparently pressing ahead with their plans for the time after Harry Kane. A Brazilian goalscorer is said to be at the top of Munich’s list, but the competition from England is already getting involved.
While Harry Kane is still tied to the record champions until the summer of 2027 and a contract extension is on the cards, those responsible are already looking closely at possible alternatives for the future. As the Spanish portal Fichajes reports, Bayern have been working on a possible transfer of Igor Thiago for several weeks.
The 24-year-old Brazilian is currently under contract with Brentford FC and has made a name for himself in the Premier League. Munich are said to have already made progress in talks before two financially strong clubs, Chelsea FC and Manchester City, entered the fray.
Strong goalscorer, high price
Thiago has impressed in England with consistent performances and is regarded as a classic centre-forward with finishing power. In the current season, he has scored a strong 17 goals in 26 Premier League games. According to the report, he is being talked about internally as a serious candidate to succeed Kane in the long term. However, there is said to be no concrete offer from Munich as yet.
A transfer would be complicated anyway. The attacker only recently extended his contract with Brentford on a long-term basis until 2031. The Premier League club’s demands are said to be correspondingly high, which could make a transfer next summer more difficult.
At the moment, there are many indications that Bayern will continue to monitor the situation and examine their options. With Kane, Munich still have a set centre-forward, while Nicolas Jackson is another attacker in the squad. Nevertheless, Igor Thiago remains an issue that is being closely monitored at Säbener Straße.
