Harry Kane is not only the face of FC Bayern in sporting terms – he has also become an absolute crowd favourite in Munich, which is precisely why recent reports from England, Spain and Germany are causing a stir: at least two clubs from Saudi Arabia are said to be prepared to put up to €100 million on the table for the 32-year-old next summer
The first report was published by kicker, and several international media outlets have since followed suit. According to the report, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad are looking closely at signing the England international. Al-Ittihad in particular are urgently seeking a new figurehead for their attack following the departures of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté
100 million euros for a 32-year-old?
According to reports, the top Saudi clubs are prepared to pay a transfer fee of 100 million euros for the top goalscorer, which is quite remarkable given Kane’s age and the remaining term of his contract. His contract at Säbener Straße runs until the summer of 2027, meaning he would only have one year left on his contract after next season
For this very reason, a three-digit million sum would be highly interesting for FC Bayern in economic terms. By way of comparison: Kane himself moved from Tottenham to Munich in the summer of 2023 for around €95 million – including potential bonuses, the sum could rise to around €100 million. A sale on similar terms would hardly represent a loss on the balance sheet
Internally, however, Kane is held in the highest esteem. In sporting terms, he consistently delivers at world-class level, regularly tops the goalscoring charts and is a central component of the sporting planning. A sale would therefore not only be an economic decision, but above all a fundamental strategic one
Doubling his salary as a lure
For Kane personally, a move to the Saudi Pro League would be extremely attractive financially. At FC Bayern, the striker currently earns around 25 million euros per year. According to reports, this salary could at least double in Saudi Arabia – sums of 50 million euros per year or even more are being discussed
In addition to the financial arguments, sporting and family factors also play a role. Kane feels at home in Munich, his family is well integrated and Bayern are currently working on a possible contract extension beyond 2027
It is also interesting to note that Kane has recently been linked with FC Barcelona, but according to media reports, he has turned down such offers
However, a departure in the summer currently seems rather unlikely. The club and player have recently positioned themselves very clearly and would like to extend their successful collaboration beyond 2027. A new contract until 2028 with an option for a further year is being discussed.
